The Board of Trinity College cf Alusie, London, announce Mr C. Egertou Lowe, F.T.C.'L. as examiner for the College in the South Island this year in practice subjects. Air Egerton Lowe received his musical education in Londun and Liepzig, the pianoforte and violin 'being his principal subjects. He has had a. very wide teaching connection) in. mod ground London, and has made a specialty of preparation for public examinations. Ho is a well-known lecturer and writer on musical subjects, and an adjudicator at important British and South African musical festivals. The examiner in elocution will he Air Alexander Watson, who needs no introduction to Australia- an f ] New Zealand. He will be remembered by bis six recital tours throughout these Colonies.

An entertaining feature of the programme' at the Princess Theatre oix AVednesday evening was the tests of humour conducted by Dr Lewis, of Hollywood, who is making a tour of New Zealand for the purpose of getting typos for making comedies in New Zealand. The theatre wa s packed and the audience wa.s well entertained. The dozen, or so local aspirants acquitted themselves well ip their endeavour to portray the characterisation of famous actors, especially as they had little knowledge of the work required, and no preparation for the tests, which were •aimed at bringing r,ut Average or oil'Mnndiug tvp7A Dr Lewis said his comedies were so complete with humourous situations, that comedians were unnecessary, and easts would he composed of appropriate types.
