Before D'e Senate Committee wliit’H is investigatin'!! the armament trade, evidence was to-day by Al l Baruch, the former Chairman of the U.R.A- War Industries Board, who recently was appointed Chairman of the Cbmmittee to devise ways of taking, the. excess profits 'c-ut of war. He recommended that there should be every safeguard possible to allow the fa-aticm to remain neutral in the event hi' aulother European war. He urged legis Latina to prevent shipments of war gear to belligerents, and the of passports t,o the trouble rfouc only with a clear undersanding that the Government was not responsible fo r the safety of the individual taking the risk. . . Mr Baruch expressed the opinion that another war “on the other side would very nearly “hum up” all of the remaining; resources of the world, and said that, if America- became involved, it would come near to wrecking; Western civilisation.
