A largo area of land, on the seashore at Totara, has been takn up by Mines investigation Ltd., of Sydney, an t l it is to he thoroughly prospected with a view to placing on the ground one or more dredges. The gold mining outlook in the Bullet- district seems particularly bright. A GOOD RETURN. WESTPORT, Jan. 14. Although the month of December was a particularly dry one, and only short time was worked by the men employed on the gold subsidy scheme, the return in Muller for the month established a new record, it being 137 ounces, as compared with the previous best of 101 ounces. OKARITQ DREDGE. DUNEDIN, Jan. 14, Okarito return was tO ounces ff>r 101 hours.
