Amidst gaieties a reception was given here by ex-Iving Alfonso, of (ipa.in, for /liis, daughter, Princess Beatrice, who on .Monday next, January 14, marries Prince Alessandro. There was a solemn ceremony performed during the evening, when Alfonso and the young couple withdrew to an inner room, where the marriage settlements were read. Thn Princess Beatrice, addressing her father i u a clear, low voice, solemnly renounced all rights to the Spanish fib rone for herself and any children she may have. She handed over a signed document to this effect. The trio the n rejoined the reception throng.

The “Referee’s” Paris correspondent says it is reported in Spanish Royalist circles that Queen Ena will not attend the marriage of her daughter, the Infanta Beatrice in Rome to-morrow.

Efforts are being made to induce the Queen to attend, despite the longstanding bitternes iS between her and ex-King Alfonso. ' . It is reported that Alfonso settled in Rome because he intends to jipply to the Vatican for an annulment of his marriage.

Meanwhile, Spanish nobility is flocking to Rome or the wedding. The guests include fifty princes and princesses from all parts of Europe.
