AUCKLAND, January 11

Over 050 bowlers from all part s of the Dominion competed to-day in the rinku eh.imp kinship, in, beautiful, weather, on sixteen greens. The players, who are representative, of 18 out of 22 bowling centres, include 76 from the South Island. Two games of 25 heads are being played with no time limit. The greens were faster than on the previous days.

There was much tension among many of the team s during the play in the first game of the rinks championship. It was shown that the individual members of the teams were strung up in anticipation of four strenuous days of gruelling games, and tile hope of qualifying for tike pastsect ion al rounds at Carlton next Wednesday.

Many sound exponent* were obviously out of form. In many instances it took the whole of the first game L.'l'oro many ,of ,tho iplayers (could settle down to their average standard of performance. As the day advanced, the character of the games improved.
