OBITUARY

The death occurred last evening of Mrs Annie Anderson, an old and respected resident of Black's Point, Reefton, the age of 77 years. Deceased was a native of Tipperary, Ireland, and is survived by ■one son, AD' Carl Anderson, of Reefton, and one daughter, Mrs Fowler, .of Blenheim.

The death took place last evening at 6 o’clock of Air Ernest James Porreen, after a long illness. The deceased when a. young man came to Hokitika o u the staff of the Lands and Survey Department. Ho took a keen interest in football, but made- his mark in amateur theatrical circles, • showing marked dramatic power on many occasions. After being transferred from i HtVutika, Mr Porreen received an important civil engineering appointment in 'Canada, where lie resided for a- good many years. There he -suffered a very severe illness which left his health wrecked, and from which lie never recovered. He came back to Hokitika, several years ago in very poor health, and of late had been eonfined to His bed. His death will he regretted by many friends throughout the district. He leaves a widow, and one son (.Tames), four sisters (AlO'dames AYV-df, ‘.Lowe. \AtoJarron ■'lid Pine) and four brothers (Harold, Aleredith, and Parry of Christchurch and Neil of Napier). Deceased was

a native of Hampden, Otago, and 50 years of age.
