A message from Kansas City states approximately eight hundred thousand persons are on the relief rolls in tij’.e drought-blistered western half of the United States. According to .an official tabulation on' Sunday night, the Government has designated for relief purposes - more than thirteen hundred counties in twenty-five States as emergency or secondary drought counties. Unofficial estimates hare placed the. crop losses at hundreds of millions.,-of-dollars. ml .ton Trie weather forecasts give no sign of a- break. The barren pastures and tile shortage of water have caused the forced sale of thousands of head of;cattle to the Government to be canned for distribution to the needy.
