The trews of the Union Company’s »■ vessels Karetu, Kiwitea, and Kanna, of tho Anchor Company’s Alexander, and of the Westport Coal Company’s - Canopus, held a combined meeting yasr te?day, when, after lengthy discussion, .it was decided - not-to take the ships' • to sea until further advice has been received from headquarters at Wellington. : \ , The Canopus has been held up %V bad weather since Friday. Her crew ar e now implicated in the hold-up and have refused later calls. » The Karetu and Kanna were ready to sad this evening, but, as the result of the men’s meeting, their crews did not‘respond to- calls. ; ' r ’' "' The Kiwitea has been ready for'sea since Saturday, but her crew likewise, would not take her 'out:'- • ; The Alexander’s proposed departure V:\ yesterday was similarly held up.' , In addition to the above vessel*, ! three other ships—the tramp steamer ' .
