In the Ashluirst fire nothing was saved from any of the three buildings involved, owing to tlie danger from live electric wires which were broken dqwji. Heavy loss is sustained by the Masonic Lodge, whose regalia and fittings were destroyed, and also by Mr Klmvjll, licensee of the hotel. The Masonic Lodge had insurance p f £350. There was also a cover of £IOOO on the hotel building, £4OO on the Pu|) : lie Hall, £2OO pii the hotel stock, and £l5O on the furniture.

The total damage is estimated af several thousand.
