OBITUARY
The death took place yesterday at his residence, High Street, Greymouth, of Mr James McKay, a resident of Greymouth and Reefton.
Born in Stafford in 1887, Mr McKay saw much of the early days of this district, and his father was one of the earliest pioneers. Mr McKay wa3 educated at lleefton and entered the Survey Department there. He took a keen interest in mining affairs and was one of the original directors of the Alexander Mines, Ltd., which position he held at the time of his death. He was also surveyor to the Midland Sawmills group for some years. The eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs Andrew McKay, he leaves two brothers. ' Dr W'. McKay, of Greymouth, and George, of Tokomaru Bay, and two sisters, Mrs A. Low, and Miss McKay, of Greymouth. His wife predeceased him many years ago and he is survived by his only daughter, Mrs P. Hogan, who resides in Wellington.
The death of .Mr Fred R. Rentrey, of Runanga, took place Inst evening. Deceased was a native of England and 47 years of age. Deceased was a member of the Druids and Masonic lodges. He leaves a widow and four sisters.
