N.Z. CABLEGRAM TO ENGLAND

HAMILTON, May 2
A statement regarding the cablegram recently/sent to the British Government in connection with the dairy industry was made by the Hon. J..G. Coates in an interview last night. “I cannot give tne complete text of the cablegram,” Mr Coates said, * ‘However, with the establishment of tli royal commission to investigate the affairs of the dairy industry, we got i n , touch with the Imperial Government. We have the information that the Dominion Government had now ■assumed the responsibility that it would be a channel through which future negotiations might be directed. We also inquired from the Imperial Government if it could make any suggestion for a basis of future discuslions between the two Governments “A Teuly from England, is expected at any time. When it arrives it may prove' confidential, but, on the nature of the replv. it is quite possible some, at. least, of our future actions may depend.” ■
