Stedman was leading 5 2 in the third set, after which the impeturble Crawford steadied, and outplayed' the New Zealander in every phase, winning 6—4, 6—o, i 5. Jn the doubles, second round, Stedman and, Peters defeated C'yMon Reid and Fyzee 6—l, 6—3, 6—2. In the mixed doubles, first round, ■Stedman and Miss McAlpinc defeated Billington and Miss Hobson 6—2, 3—6, 6—3. Malfroy and Miss Stammers defeated Tysaght and Miss Yorko 10--8. 8-6.
