FEDERAL BUTTER
MEANS SOUGHT
TO CHECK SLUMP IN PRICES (Australian Press Association). (Received this day at 10.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 30. The Australian Dairy Produce Export Board is holding a special meeting on Tuesday at Melbourne to discuss means of checking the slump in butter prices as the current price of Australian butter in London represents a fall of £l3 to £ls a ton in
eleven days. Proposals, will he submitted for the regulation of shipments. It is also proposed that butter shall not be sold to London at present prices. The Board considers that as much butter could he sold to London at 80s per cut, as at 70s, the latter being the present quotation.
The Board, however, does not seek to determine the price above 80s per cwt, unless the market of its own free will does beyond that level. The New Zealand Dairy Board which is also meeting on Tuesday is also expected to co-operate.
