BY EX-BORSTAL INMATE.

A grant qf £1,050 as compensation for her alleged illegal imprisonment in a Borstal Institute at Wellington, and in a common, gaol at Mt. Eden, Auckland, i 6 sought in a petition presented to the House of Representatives, on behalf of Annie Lillian Mntheson, of Auckland, who was recent released by the Supreme Court after strong comment, . was , made;-by Mr Justice Smith on her sentence by a magistrate, Petitioner also seeks to have her name expunged- from the criming records of New Zealand. B Compensation is sought on the- following grounds . ’■ (i) That petitioner had been obliged to incur legal expenses amounting to £SO.
(2) That she was compelled by. lief imprisonment in a Borstal Institute to associate with women of : low repute, tunny of whom were convicted, criminals. • .■ - (5) That upon her illegal detention at Mount Eden gaol, she was compelled to associate with women convicted of many of the worst crimes known to law.
(4) That her future career will be tediously jeopardised by these acquaintances when these women leave gaol. (5) That she has suffered during her illegal incarceration pain and mental anguish and embarrassment. —*
