ENGLISH RATINGS’ DISCONTENT

The Australian Press Association understands that there was s ome insubordination on the Australian destroyers owing to the lower-paid English ratings bound for China, resenting the long training given the Australians en route, in which they had to join.
' They were also disgruntled ove,r the food, and overcrowding and the discontent- came to a head on shore leave at Gibraltar, where the malcontents cut the 'Stuart adrift from the mole, and threw ammunition and lifebuoys overboard.
Divers were engaged for half a day with t.he salvage of. the gear. Two submarine ratings have been dismissed, and several .others were placed under charge.
