It is a considerablo achievement for London to clea*' stocks, so advantageously in view of the slight decline in the Australian markets. The general trade trend appears to be towards a higher level of activity, with wool participating- in the general recovery.

URUGUAYAN MISSION TO JAPAN.

TO SUPPLANT AUSTRALIAN WOOL.

TOKIO, October 13

A special Uruguayan mission recently arrived in Japan to attempt to obtain an agreement to supplant Australian wool in Japanese markets. The mission is proposing a reciprocal trade agreement, Uruguay accepting Japanese manufacture's in exchange for its wool.

Uruguay h"s recently opened a Legation in Tokio, at which there have been elaborately entertained at a luncheon, the Japanese Foreign Vice 'Minister and seventy leading business men. / ,
