A story of victimisation by ins old gaol associates was.told ui tne Magistrate's Court by Frederick Walker McLennan, cuerk, who was sentenced

Accused obtained a quantity of clothing by raise pretences lilt Blenheim, and also admitted the theft of gold nuggets. While at Kyeburn, he stole a n,cycle and other articles from a
miner's camp. Accused said that he wag discharged from gaoi in Auckland in December, and entered into an agency business with the. remnants of his capital, He tried to go straight, but was blackmailed by his old gaol associates, who found him out and dropped hints to his clients. On a further charge of false pretences, id Auckland, he was remanded for a week.
TWO COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.

Wilkin Rainsdon Avery and Alfred Norman O'Meara were charged that they broke and entered the premises of Morrison Bros., at Geraldine, and stole cash and goods to the value of £550. They pleaded not guilty, and were committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
