INDO-JAPANESE PACT POSSIBLE

CALCUTTA, October 11
The conference of Indian and Japenese mills interests resulted in a deadlock, owing to the refusal of Indians to accept the quota proposals of the Japanese and the latter declined to modify the plans for restrictive exports. However, it is understood there has been a change for the better in the Indian-Japanese textile conversations. An agreement is now possible.
JAP. SILK COMPETITION
LONDON, October 12
The Joint Industrial Council meeting at Manchester, discussed the serious effect qf Japanese competition on the British silk industry, - stating l it was causing much unemployment. A resolution was passed urging the Government to regulate Japanese sdk imports, and if necessary, to totally prohibit them.
