TROUBLE IN NAVY
RUMOURS OF INSUBORDINATION

Sensational rumours are cu'rrent in Portsmouth as to insubordination cm the battleship Hood. - An exhaustive inquiry failed to substantiate these.
The Hood i s .at present in Cromarty Firth with the Renown. The mem-
bers of the clew were ashore at Invergorden on October 9th and 10th, the're being no sign of trouble or discontent. The “Daily Mail’s” special correspondent reports that- the cancellation of the naval manoeuvres owing to a gain ' ront.~i.ns a most valuable lesson already apparent to naval men, which they consider the public should learn, namely, the shortage of cruisers. The proposed attack convoy on October 5 would in wartime depend for success on sufficient c'ruisers of five thousand tons or thereabouts, but they were unavailable. .Consequently it wag inere.ssary to substitute destroyers.
