TWO WELLINGTON BURGLARIES

The timely entrance of a nightwatchman frustrated thieves in' an attempt to carry out a burglary in the shop of L. M. Sowman, tobacconist, Lambton Quay, at about 2.30 o’clock this morning. .j
The thieves gathered a quantity of stock, apid. they were apparently preparing to depart when the.night watchman entered find flashed' a torch on them. The intruders left hurriedly, andas far as can be ascertained they took nothing with them. . .. •'
A burglary was committed -in a house in Hill Street during the. early hours of last evening, and when quite a number of people were in the house at the time. A ' diamond ririg was taken and • also a small amount of money. . ?
