Tlie “Times” citv editor says that Furness Withy Ltd., .with associated interprises, and British Maritime Trust has acquired a substantial interest in thb Shaw Savielle and Albion, and Associated Pensinsuia, establishing connection with two important British shipping groups. John MacMillan, 26, identified with Shaw, ! Saville and Albion as manager, general manager and managing director, resigns the chairmanship in favour of Lord Esseiidon, but continues as managing director. Ordinary shares of Shaw, Saville and Albion are now held by White Star, Oceanic Steam Navigation, Furness Withy, and Bntisli Martime. The two last-named have largo financial resources. Furness Withy increased their capital by two inilliou pounds in 1931, when the chairman emphasised the increase was to enable the acceptance of favourable opportunities of expanding their interests. At present the Company controlls services from Britain to America, South Africa, and the East.
The latest development means the extension of other Empire routes.
