B RADIO STATIONS
REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT.

WELLINGTON, March 9
Representations were made to-day on behalf of the ' B class broadcasting stations concernng. the use of gramophone records, and also the need for extending the regulation covqring sponsored programmes, by a number -cf Members of Parliament, who waited outlie Postmaster-General, Hon A. Hamilton, and the chairman of the Broadcasting Board, Air H. A. Vickery. The deputation sought to have the B stations placed on the same basis as. the A class stations. , The Postmaster-General repeated a statement he made to Parliament that •he 'did not- consider that Government interference would lie justified, and that the dispute between the manufacturers- of the gramophone records and the B class stations was a matter for private negotiation. He added, that- he wias watching the .position carefully”- ‘
TERMINATED AGREEMENT. CANBERRA, March -9
The Commonwealth Government has notified the Amalgamated 'Wireless, of . 'Australia, Limited, 0 f its intention to terminate the agreements covering patent rights for which, the Government is paying £60,000 per year. An official statement is promised shortly.
