DEATH FROM PEA RIFLE WOUND

CHRISTCHURCH, January 9

Eric Napier Champ, aged 14, of Woolston, died in hospital this morning as the result of a pea rifle wound in the head, received on December 31 while' shooting.

BOY CYCLIST INJURED.

EKETAHUNA, January 9

A serious accident occurred on the Kaiparoro road, nine miles from Eketahuna, on Saturday afternoon. John William Duder, aged 14, while cycling, collided with a motor-van driven by Percy Mortensen. The driver saw the cycle approaching and pulled into the bank. The cycle swerved, and struck the mudguard. The rider hit the wind screen, and fell to the road uncom scious, with a fractured skull. He was admitted to the iPahiatua hospital in a serious condition, which was unchanged this morning.
