BANDITS CHASED
DARING JEWEL RAID IN LONDON
LONDON, November 30. Within ten yards of where a policeman wa® busy on traffic control at Charing Groas .Station, yesterday, smash-and-grab bandits made a raid and got away with a £3OO platinum and diamond bracelet.
The window was smashed with a hammer, and the glass shattered in fragments over the crowd of shoppers in the Strand at the time.
'Shortly before 4 o’clock two men who had mingled with the crowd outside the shop of the London .1 ewe Hero 'Company approached the main window. One man smashed it with a hammer, while his companion grabbed the bracelet. Both then avae off.
Two policemen papea- 6ell ell's and l pedestrians gave chase, but the men escaped in the side streets and alleys behind St. Martin's Church. It was reported that they h-d doubled buck into Craven .Street, but a search there was unavailing.
