' Following a visit to Cromwell over the week-end, during tjje course of which he examf id both of the tunnels in which retux.is of gold ha ye been obtained, Professor Park, the eminent mining authority, stated 1 that it was “one of the most promising things seen in alluvial mining in New Zealand.” Professor Park said he was of the opinion that this lord of gold .runs from near the Kawarau Gor ere to a point at thie tack of; Cromwell; If this proved to be the case, he, believed that a. new era in the history of the field w'ould be opened up. H© comid-ared that the latest find promised a very bright future for gold mining in Central Otago generally. ,
