CSeddon, who became Prime Minister of New Zealand on May 1, 1892, and died at bea on June, 10, 1900, when returning from Australia. Yesterday was also the 19th. anniversary of the death of Sir Arthur Guinness, „ who represented the Grey district in Parliament from 1884 continuously until his death at Greymouth ou June 10, 1913.

The steamer Kiwjtea will arrive at Greymouth on Monday to load 400,000 superficial (feet of timber for Melburn© and Adelaide. The Gabriella is due on June 22, to load 700,000 feet of timber for Sydney. The usual monthly meeting of tho Arahura branch of the Women’s Institute wais held at the residence of Mrs Ditely, on Wednesday afternoon last. Present were the President (Mrs Ditely) in the chair and thirteen members. The, minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The usual business was discussed and members brought along their handicrafts and work to employ their leisure moments. Useful articles of warm clothing were handed in to bo sent along to the Mayoress’ fund for winter comforts for the needy. A resolution was passed that each member bring along some useful article made from a sugar bag for next meeting. A very amusing potato peeling competition was carried out which was won by Mrs'D. Houston, Mrs Robt. Bradley being second. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Havjll and Cunningham, who provided a very delectable afternoon tea, which brought the meeting to a very successful conclusion.

. At th e Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr Justice Adams, Harold Holmes Greymouth, for whom Mr T. F. Brosnan appeared, petitioned for .a divorce from his wife, Muriel Hilda Holmes, now of Auckland, on the grounds of adultery, Edward Porter being cited as co-respondent. The petition was not defended. Evidence was given by the petitioner and by Robert Duggan, -Assistant-Clerk of the Court. Counsel cited the case of McClew and Mr Clew. His Honour reserved his decision, pending consideration of authorities, and the admissability of certain evidence. Gregory O’Neill, of Waiuta (Mr J. W. Hannan) petitioned for a divorce from 'his wife, Elizabeth 0 1 Neill, resident in Scotland, on the grounds of adultery, Peter Lamb Lyon, being cited as co-respondent. The hearing of the case was adjourned Until this morning, to permit the petitioner to give evidence,
