CRICKET TEST

S. AFRICA SCORES 451. TWO INDIVIDUAL CENTURIES [By Telegraph, t*er Pres* Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 29. The Test cricket match, between New Zealand and.-South Africa was continued at Lancaster Park to-day in perfect weather.. The wicket and outfield were improving hourly, but were still slow. The visitors made an admirable start, scoring nearly 200 runs without the loss of a wicket, but after the departure of the opening batsmen' the performances of the remainder- ’were less remarkable. Until late in the afternoon the batting was definitely on top of tile bowling. , Christy compiled a brilliant century in 125 minutes, giving only wo chances. His driving and cutting were superb and his exhibition will long be remembered by those who witnessed it. Mitchell also betted well for his century though his display suffered somewhat by ‘comparison with that of his brilliant partner. His was a very sound innings, but it lacked the aggression of Christy’s. The New Zealand attack was seldom dangerous and the fielding both on the ground and in the air was often faulty. The gate receipts on the first' day (Saturday) were £493, and to*day £242.
