(Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 25. - Don Hark ness replying to Mostyn’s New Zealand statement published in the Sydney “Herald” on Saturday, reiterates the denial that he ever claimed that Smith’s car was capable of three hundred miles per hour. He said the car was designed to break the existing record of 245 miles an hour, and if successful, he was prepared to alter the gear ratio and attempt greater speeds of up to three hundred.

.Never, in his wildest dreams, did lie imagine- iit woul-d. be possible to better .tile record by fifty-five miles an hour. If the “Enterprise” breaks the record by five or ten miles an hour, as it was capable of doing, it would be an excellent performance. Smith himself, in articles, told the “Sunday Times” and “Sunday Guardian” that lie charmed lie now said the car would he capable of three hundred miles an hour. That was long before the drawings were made or the Schneider engine was assured. Harkness added “Mostyn regrets having insisted that t claimed a- speed of three hundred for the Enterprise. Why should Mostyn have any regrets, if he- is sure of what he is talking about? There is no occasion for apologies.’
