MAORI BOY KILLED. COLLISION WITH OXFORD BUS. (By Telegraph —Per Brest Association) CHRISTCHURCH, January 23. Johnny Hopkinscn, a.n eleven-year-okl Maori boy living at Tualiiwi, died in the Brocklehurst Private Hospital at Rangiora last evening from injuries received in a collision with the OxfordChristchureh bus at Pitnma’s Corner, on the Main Road through Tuahiki, about 5.40 p.m. The boy is stated to have been riding a cycle and, being deaf, failed to hear the Inis approaching. When he saw the bus he turned further to his right, and the driver, James C. Pateman, was unable to avoid a collision, although he hit a telegraph post in endeavouring to do so. The boy’s leg was broken and his skull was fractured. beng attended by Dr. T. A. Will bo was admitted to the hospital, where he died at 10.40 p.m. An inquest will be held. MOTHER’S DEATH. GAVE BIRTH TO TWIN SONS. WHANGAREI, January 23. Mr Clinton Jones, of the'“‘Northern Advocate” publishing staff, was summoned to Auckland last evening on a sad mission, his wife having passed away after giving birth to twin boys. Mrs Jones, who was married about a year ago, was Miss Marguerite (Rita) Care, of Cambridge. The infant boys are alive and well.
