AMONG THE PEAKS

SOME HIGH CLIMBING. A South Westland correspondent writes advising that on January 16th, Miss Ida . Corry ,of England, accompanied by Guide Frank Alack, climbed Mt. LindenLit and Mt. Haast. This is the first time these peaks have been climbed by a lady from the West -oast sale. On January 17th the two climbed Mt. Guy and then went over the Pioneer Pass to Haast Hut. Miss Corry is also the first- lady to cross this pass, which is one of the highest passes in New Zealand. Miss Corry who has climbed in Switzerland considers that the alpine scenery from the top of Mt. Haast is easily the finest that she had ever seen. The 'lady and her guide were waiting at- Haast Hut for a chance to climb Alt. Cook but the weather conditions at the time were not of a too favourable nature for the attempt to be made.
