BOY SCOUTS

It is now many years since the first troop of Boy Scouts was formed In Hokitka. Since then Scouters have come and gone, new boys hafe joined and others passed on “prepared” to do their bit in the citizenship of the country. Th© fortunes of the troop, rose and fell as in the case with the Second Hokitika Troop. At present this troop with its pack of Wolf Chibs has a very strong membership and is very fortunate in having popular and enthusiastic Scoutmasters. A strong Committee' is looking after the interests of the troop and is at present trying to arouse the notice of more parents of boys to the advantages that joining the scouts have on after life. The- boys are taught th© essen)6ialis of good citizenship, truth, honesty, loyalty and oleaimess of mind and body. Practical work of all descriptions is encouraged as is also the love of fresh air and healthy exercise. In order to give any parents or others interested & chance to - give suggestions and a talk on Troop matters the Committee are inviting ail such people to ' attend its monthly meeting in the Scout Hall, to-morrow (Tuesday) night at 8 o’clock. Parents who wish to give their children a chance to mix with others in good healthy work and exercise and moral and general improvement, cannot doi better than attend this meeting and see for themselves.
