A MASSACRE

A radio message from Point Moresby confirms previous rumours that seventeen natives were massacred in the Fly River district in Papua. The facts are that a party met other natives encamped on the riverside. They signified that they wanted to barter for tobacco and they mixed with the campers. Women who were in the canoes distributed tomahawks among the men, who attacked the others savagely. A police patrol lias gone to the scene.
