CANADA’S BID
FOR BRAZIL TRADE. (United Press Association.—By Electric T elegr apli.—Copyright.) RIO DE JANIERO, December 4. A commercial agreement between Brazil and Canada has been signed provisionally to-day. It Mill be submitted to tiie Canadian Parliament for approval before becoming effective. The Canadian trade with Brazil is considerable.
OTTAWA, December 5
Canada • receives the advantage of the minimum Brazil tariffs upon all goods exported by her to. Brazil under the provisional trade treaty. Canada will also be given the most-favoured-nation treatment- entitling the Dominion to free entry for Canadian fresh fruits.
In return, Canada grants Brazil her intermediate tariff's.
The conclusion of the treaty is coincedent with the coming into effect of a new double-column tariff system in Brazil. Previously imports from Brazil entered Canada under the central Canadian tariff.
The treaty is' made provisional because a Treaty of a more permanent character must have the approval or the Canadian Government before becoming effective. At the next session of the Canadian Parliament a treaty it is understood, will be submitted giving Brazil Canadians most favoured national treatment, .
