ROYAL BALL
AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE.

--Tho King and Queen are giving a private ball at Buckingham Palace tonight, for which two thousand invitations have been issued. This is the first- function of the kind since the year 1912, though a State Ball was hold in 1924. The Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, the Duke of Gloucester, and also the Princess Ingrid of Sweden will be present. THE DRESSES AND DANCES. LONDON, July 17. The Royal Ball at Buckingham Palace was a great success. The King wore the kilted full dress of Colonel-in-Chief of the Black Watch. The Queen wore a gown of ivory-coloured chiffon, .'embroidered with pearls and diamonds. The dance programme consisted of fox-trots, the “Blue Danube” and other waltzes; but there were no tangos. Every woman present wore ■ long white kid gloves, and most of them carried fans. The younger members of a the Royal Family, Jed by the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of York, formed a merry group.
