The New Zealand cricketers continued against 'Scotland in overcast weather. Lowry declared lenvi’’g Scotland a whole day to score 316 for victory. Kerr and. Alexander started slowly to the accurate bowling of Allcott and Merritt. After an hour’s play the scoye stood at 34 for 1 0. Kerr not cut 16. Alexander riot/ I 'o tot" 16. Extras 3. ' GLASGOW, July 17. ‘ The New Zealand cricketers experienced little difficulty in defeating Scotland by the margin of f 35 runs. Kerr and Alexander battled before lunch. Kerr went out 1.b.w., playing forward to Merritt. Alexander scored freely off any loose deliveries. He was out immediately after lunch when he Bnicked an away spinner , from Vivian to a brilliant diving catch by Dempster in the slips. The remaining batsmen were unable to cope with the attack of Mol'ritt, Matheson and Vivian. Tod batted vigorously for a period. Huddleston and and Watson were nb-. sent, injured/ Merritt showed, his re*, turn to bowling form, striking;<a. length fairly early and spinning the ball well.
