- TRUE LEADERSHIP. If there is one man in the State to whom democracy can pin its faith in time of trouble, on whose level-headed* ness itvean depend, whose habit it i& to pursue the straight course of honesty and justice at all seasons, then sooner or later it will always turn back to him to lead it. The true leader must steer by principle and not by the winds of popular prejudice. He must have courage, singleness of purpose and strength of mind.
