YOUTHS' RESCUED. NEW -PLYMOUTH, June 15. On Sunday afteroon two elimWs, Do-nis Hastings Dudd, 20. of New Plymouth, and John Fitzgibbons, 22, of Waitarn. whose parents reside in Wellington (both clerks of the Bank or New Zealand) were caught 2000 feet up on the seaward side of the Paritutu 500 feet rock base of the breakwater. They were unable to advance or retire. Their signals were seen at 4,25. Attempts at their rescue were made by Alpine Club members. Officers and seamen of the steamer Kim and Opilii ascended the rock on the landward side, and endeavoured to reach the youths with a rope and a bosun’s chair. When night came the rock was lighted with hreak-do-wn ear lights and searchlight’s all night. Their efforts were unsuccessful.

Their rescue was accomplished at 8 o’clock this morning. 1 The youths were pulled up little the worse for their experience.

LYTTELTON WATERS! DERS. STOP WORK MEETING. CHRISTO BURCH. June 15. A special stop work meeting of Lyttelton Watersiders was held this morning to consider a resolution to apply to the Arbitration Court for exemption from the general wage reduction order. The resolution was carried unanimously.
