FATAL ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) ASHBURTON, .March 23. David Woodcock, aged 21. single, employed on a farm at Alethven died in the hospital this morning from a fractured skull and injuries to the brain as a result of a motor cycle accident yesterday. WORK RESUMED. WELLINGTON. March 23. Work was resumed to-day on the Campanile foundations by sixteen men out of the shift of 3(i four-day men (With three dependants or more) who were scheduled by the Unhour Department for work on this job from to-day until rhursday. Twenty of the men failed to turn out, they doubtless fearing the jibeand comments ol the pickets, who were early on tin- job.

MOUNT EGMONT. STRATFORD, March 24. That Mt. Egmont is the youngest volcano of any magnitude in New Zealand, was the opinion expressed b.v Mr W. R. B. His wile was unconscious, and she was taken to the hospital suffering from head injuries. STRANGULATION. DUNEDIN. March 21. The inqest was concluded on the body of a male infant found on the heach at Ravensbourne on December 2!.h Dr. Dath expressed the opinion that death was due to .strangulation The police evidence showed that an extensive inquiry throughout Otago had failed to find the mother. The Coroner, stating that the child had evidently not been wanted, returned a verdict, of death from strangulation by a person unknown.
