CHARLIE CHAPLIN
A BOISTEROUS RECEPTION. (Uoitfcd Preee Ae»c*ciatl<m—By IClwtrio Telegraph—Copyright). PARIS, March 22. Charlie Chaplin’s amazing tour of the capitals culminated in a boisterous reception at Care de Lyon, on arrival from Venice. A policeman had to rescue the comedian from clamouring thousands and carry him bodily from the platform. The police had literally to fight off his admirers. Chaplin was thrown bodily into a waiting ipotor car which scattered the crowds. Charlie looked, pale and worried. Crowds lined the route shouting “Vive Chaplin.” The “Morning Post’s” correspondent states Chaplin will lunch with M. Briand to-morrow, when he will be decorated with the Legion of Honour. On Wednesday he will be the guest of the Duke of Wesminster at a boar hunt.
