Iho homo team batted lirst and made 158 lor seven wickets and declared. Hokitika replied with only (53, Grey thus gaining a two-point win. The latter part of the Grey innings and all of the visitors’ innings, were played in an almost continual downpour of rain. (By Telegraph —Per Press A ssociation) \ CHK ISTC'HTKCH, March 22. | Riccarton are senior cricket champions for 1930-31. They defeated Old Boys in the final by 120 runs yesterday. Riccartoit’s second innings was sensational. Wickets fell rapidly and for a time it appeared that Old Boys had a chance of snatching victory in a race against time. Merritt bowled with remarkable success. Old Bovs stuck to the. task gamely, but could not quite manage in the period of play left. Riccartoirs second innings total was 141, and Old Bovs would have had to make 244 in an hour to win. Riccarton deserve the honour. They have hatted well throughout the season, losing only two games.
