BOATING DISASTER

SEVERAL PERSONS DROWNED (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) FOXTON, March 23. A private excursion which elided so disastrously, set out from Foxton on Sunday morning After proceeding twe vie miles they spent some time blackberrying in a swamp, but decided to cross over a sandy beach to light a lire for lunch. They were travelling at full speed when they struck a submerged snag ripping tne bottom out. All seated in the stern were precipitated into twelve leet of water, twenty feet front the shore. In addition to those drowned there were on the launch Mr and Mrs Neville and three children; a youth Manly Symes, and two Henrioksen girls all of Foxton.

Symes rescued two girls and Neville seized his wife and Cyril Henrioksen, hut fouled a rope. His wife became unconscious and . lost her grip of the hoy, who disappeared, Neville regained (tb« launch which remained half submerged on the snag and resuscitated bis wife. Neither Henrioksen nor his wife could swim. Hakarero was a strong swimmer and had almost regained the bank with his son when Jie was overcome by n seizure and sank) with the boy. The remainder of the children swam ashore. All the bocD ies except that of Mrs Henrioksen, were recovered. BODY RECOVERED. FOXTON, March 23. The body of Mrs Henrioksen, the victim of the Sunday drowning fatality, was recovered this morning. All are notv accounted for.
