■ In his first Australian,; match, Sti-angler Lewis, U.S.A., exploited only the crudest holds on Saturday night, against Charlie Struck hut I,is great strength enabled him to triumph. So severe were his headlocks that Struck was unable to rise and was removed unconscious. He was thrown live times and finally pinned.
TURK’S SUCCESS
AUCKLAND, August 10
In liis first appearance in Auckland, Kara Pasha, the Turkish wrestler, defeated Tom Alley, of the United States, before a packed audience in the Town Hall on Saturday evening, 'me two men had mot previously in Wellington, where the Turk won by two submission falls from Alley, to win the bout in the sixth round. It was tiie first contest to Le held under the .control of the recently formed ex-Service-nien’s Wiestling Union, and the new Association received good support. The firs 1, three rounds were fast and even, but in the iourtli round Kara Pasha gained a submission fall witli a toe bold.
Alley made desperate, but unsuccessful attempts to equalise in the fifth round and in the sixth, the Turk gained a second submission fall with another toe hold.
