ROME, January 9
A feature of the second day of the Royal marriage festivities throughout the city was the illuminations, particularly the ancient forums, baths, caracal la, and other ruins, which were fantastic-ally lit up by multi-coloured reflections.
Half a million candle power alone was used to illuminate the Quirnal Square, and ten thousand bulbs and twenty search lights were erected on the Pincian Hill, but the most interesting feature was the traditional display oil the Janiculuin Hill, which began and ended in sprays of four thousand rockets, fired from Catherine .wheels, based upon an invention of :Vlielieal Angelo.
