WILKINS’ PROPOSALS
I’IiEPAWNG iron joinxny. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this day at 8.30. a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 9. Sir H. Wilkins, in a wireless front Deception Island on Friday states: “Delighted to hear of Byrd’s success. Our preliminary prepanitons are almost complete, and the time when good weather may he expected is approaching. We must soon seek a more southerly base', consequently we have been carefully checking everything. Today’s test flight showed everything practically ready. We have arranged to accommodate one machine lifted with any type of landing gear aboard the Scoresby, and will start loading supplies immediately. “About next week-end, weather permitting, Cramer, Cheescman, Porter and myself will sail with the plane and iin Austin ■sevon motor car, which is most helpful in transporting supplies.- We shall probably go outside Antarctic Archipelago, trying to reach as far south as possible and locate a good icefield for a take-off over Boss So). Plans depend on the conditions, hut if the position reduces the total distance to two thousand miles, we might attempt a non-stop flight, or await a second plane, before setting out.’’
