Reports to-day state’the Soviet opened a strong offensive, at Mancliuli with a. cavalry charge on G’hinese outposts under an artillery barrage at midnight on October 2nd, but were driven off, leaving a large number of casualties. Again at daybreak they commenced intensive shelling of the Chinese lines, six Soviet airplanes dropping bombs, resuiting in 50 to 100 casualties. Important developments in the SinoSoviet situation are expected shortly.
