THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES
PROVIDING FOR UNEMPLOYMENT There is a definiteness, however, about the Prime Minister’s latest promise that the earlier ones lacked,'- not only in the 3ense -that in his pre-elec-tion utterances Sir . Joseph Ward was committing himself to undertakings which lie did not seem likely to be called upon to fulfil, but also in the sense that he has now specified a time when his promise is to be fulfilled. In five weeks from the present dote there will, he says without any qualification, be no unemployment in the country. —Otago Daily Times.
