STRANDED HOCHST

(cnit,d Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) COLOMBO, Sept, 29. Hopes of saving the stranded steamer Hoclist are steadily diminishing, depressing reports having been received from the Hercules and Olivia, after a strenuous week, lighting day and night. Tlie water is rushing through the holes in the ship’s sides. The crew are completely exhausted, and cannot hold on to. the pumps much longer. There is a danger of the vessel breaking up as the weather is rough and she has been pushed further on to the rocks. Attempts to tow her off failed, as the hawsers parted.
