EXPLOSION TRAGEDY
IDENTICAL ACCIDENT' RECURS. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON; May 23! William Bayne, farmer, aged 42 ; a married mail, with eight children, the eldest aged sixteen was killed while blasting a log on his farm at Rakctapauma twenty miles from Ta ill ape. The charge did not explode and Bayne went back to inspect the log and then the explosion occurred. He was kdle-,1 instantly, being frightfully mutilated. A similar accident later occurred with the same log. The District Coroner, Mr J. P. Aldridge (Mayor of Tailiapc) went to hold an inquest on Bayne. The log was inspect?.!, and another charge was found, which Patrick McCann junr } of Itakefcapauma offered to explode. He aophed and fired a fuse. There was no explosion, and he went to inspect the leg. Mo leaned over the log, and then an plosion followed. McCann was badly injured. The full extent o! his injuries is not yet known. Ho will probably survive.
