We celebrated the Commander’s flight to the North Pole with a turkey dinner and formed 78 club members. They are those of the Bvrd expeditions who have been north and south of latitude 78 for both King’s Bay and Little America are inside those northern and southern limits. The insignia of the club was drawn by Bernt Balchen and is a circle with the number 78 in the centre, a plane on one side, a polar bear at the top and a penguin at the bottom.
