CHRISTCHURCH, April 16
Fat Cattle. —There was another large yarding. Best steers were firm at late rates, and cow and heifer beef was <easder. Extra heavy steers realised £9 10s to £2l los, special to £24 7s 6d. heavy £l7 to £lB los, handy weights £lo os to £IG los, medium £l3 to £l4 los. light £ll to £l3 os; cows, extra heavy £l4 os to £ls 17s Gd, prime £9 to £lO 10s, medium £7 los to £8 los, inferior £5 to £7 os. Store Sheep.—There was a large yarding; store lambs, forward sorts, selling Ann ; and ewe lambs soiling at late rates. Adult sheep were a shade firmer, especially for the better class of ewes and wethers.
Fat Sheep.—A large yarding, mostly ewes. This market opened on a par with last week, with an easing tendency. Extra prime ewes made to 425, good* prime 33s to 37s Id, medium 29s Gd to 325, inferior from 275, extra prime ewes to 31s 4d, prime 26s to 29s Gd. medium 21s Gd to 24s Gd, light from 19s.
Eat Lambs.—A fairly small yarding of mixed quality. .The market was well up to schedule rates. Extra prime lambs made to 35s 4d, good prime 28s Gd to 31s Gd, medium 26s 3d to 28s 3d, light from 23s 9d. pjjr S- A large entry, and pork a medium entry. Ikicon values were irregular. and there was an easing tendency for port, selling up to late rates. Choppers, light 'from 30s, extra heavy to £6 8s Gd, light hacon from £- los to £3 10s, heavy hacon £3 los to £4, extra heavy to £4 8s Gd ; average s}d to Gd per lb. Light pork 32s to 40s heavy 42s to 53s Gd; average 7d to 7jd per lb.
